FAQ

How Long Does the Battery Last?

Battery operation time depends on the phone/battery type and on the preset phone scanning mode. In general, the shorter the scanning interval, the shorter the battery operation time and vice versa.

Can the System Be Used Abroad?

PhoneOnMap can be used worldwide, but the user must be aware that the data transmission outside provider's coverage area (i.e. abroad) will incure roaming charges like any other phone service.

How Long Is the Data Stored on the Server?

The data is stored on the server one month back.

Does the Phone Application Work Even if the Cell Phone is Turned Off?

No. The application does not work when the phone is turned off.

Can the Phone Be Localized inside Buildings, as well?

GPS usually does not localize the phone inside buildings. If it does, it provides rather rough information. GPS certainly does not work in the underground transportation.

What Is the Accuracy of Localizing the Phone?

As for open space, GPS accuracy is relatively high. Deviations of 10-20 meters from the actual position are acceptable for civil purposes.

Can I Be Sure that My Phone Is not Monitored by an Unauthorized User?

Yes, you can. Your phone can be monitored only by the web user who is able to identify your phone. And its identification can be performed only by a user whose email address you saved in your phone yourself.

How to Find Out whether Somebody Has Installed this Application on My Phone?

This is quite simple, just have a look in the folder “application”, “installation” or “programs” (depending on the type of phone you have) and if you find PhoneOnMap icon there, select Remove – your secret spy is out of luck and you must be careful next time who uses your cell phone.

What Is the “Phone Scanning Interval” and What Does It Affect?

This is the time interval between individual located positions of the phone; this piece of information is of substantial importance for the web user – upon setting the scanning interval to 10 seconds, the monitored phone will be shown on the map every 10 seconds; upon setting it to 10 minutes, the phone will be shown every 10 minutes. In other words: If the user wants to monitor “every step” of the phone owner, a very short interval should be set. In cases when rough information on the movement route is sufficient, a longer interval should be set. Of course, the scanning interval has an immediate effect on the phone battery operation time – the shorter the interval, the shorter the battery operation time and vice versa.

What Scanning Mode is Preset in the Phone as Standard upon Installing the Application?

Automatic optimal mode is preset in the phone as standard.

How Does the Automatic Scanning Mode Work?

It is an optimized scanning mode in which the scanning interval is automatically adapted to the monitored phone’ s motion speed. For example, the interval is set to the minimum value if driving a car. And it is set to the maximum value if no motion is detected. While the intervals span differs depending on the selected automatic mode type.

What Is the Most Suitable Phone Scanning Mode for a Child Who Walks to School?

The automatic optimal mode is absolutely sufficient for this case.
